Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to force a final set.

Moutet rescued four early break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
